Pretoria Executive, Almost exchanged blows during a meeting with Elders’ council

JULY 2025

A routine caucus meeting between the Pretoria Executive and the influential Elder’s Council reportedly descended into a shouting match that nearly turned physical this week, prompting the Elder’s Council chairperson to abruptly adjourn the proceedings. The heated exchange, which lasted for an intense 30 minutes, was fueled by explosive allegations of leaked confidential information,

infighting over a “secret” WhatsApp group, and claims of sabotage and blackmail.

Sources close to the Executive revealed that the primary catalyst for the near-brawl was the contentious issue of executive information being leaked to disgruntled community groups. This alleged breach of trust ignited immediate anger among some members, who accused their colleagues of undermining

the council’s authority and operations.

The situation was further inflamed by internal disputes concerning a highly exclusive, “secret” Whats App group maintained by the Executive. Several members reportedly voiced strong complaints about being denied administrative privileges for this group, leading to accusations of exclusion and favoritism. Adding to the digital drama, it was also disclosed that some Executive members had “pressed the exit button,” unilaterally leaving the private chat, a move seen by many as a sign of deep disunity.

Further compounding the t ensions w er e s erious allegations of “sabotage” within the ranks. Reports emerged during the meeting of individuals engaging in blackmail, using fabricated WhatsApp mess ages to discredit and manipulate others within the community. The potent combination of these grievances – leaks, WhatsApp

admin power struggles, members abandoning the group, and blackmail claims – collectively sparked a very loud and emotionally charged argument.

The volatile atmosphere escalated rapidly, pushing the meeting to the brink of physical confrontation. It was at this critical juncture that the Elder’s Council chairperson intervened, exercising their authority to adjourn the meeting prematurely. The swift action was reportedly taken to prevent the situation from deteriorating further and to de-escalate what had become a deeply acrimonious session.
