NRM Bush war

By Mbalire Brian Kisuule II, discussing how Kyagulanyi does not enlist children as fighters like Museveni.

When present day dictator Museveni waged war against the government, he recruited small boys and girls into his ragtag NRM group. Guess what he taught them, smoking ganja. Today, about 99% of them are languishing in poverty where they are. Kyagulanyi does not enlist children as fighters like Museveni once did during his rise to power.

Who remembers Kifulugunyu, a singer in the bush whose main role was to boost the fighters’ morale? He died like a pauper.

It should be remembered that in his so-called “first 27 fighters,” which Museveni narrates in his book which is a bunch of lies – Sowing the Mustard Seed (Asimba Ensigo ya Kalidali), there was a small boy who followed them into the bush without their knowledge. They only later discovered that a child had joined them when they reached in the bush. Museveni did not use this boy as a fighter; instead, he sent him back and put him in school because the child was his relative of sort. However, he went ahead and recruited other people’s children into the NRM. This stark contrast highlights that Kyagulanyi does not enlist children as fighters like Museveni.

It is ironic that Museveni and his lunatic supporters are now saying that Kyagulanyi should also bring his young children to fight alongside other people. They forget that Museveni took his own children to Sweden. The only Museveni relative in the bush was Salim Saleh, who never even stepped onto a battlefield. He was heavily guarded by soldiers. Yet Salim Saleh has become the biggest beneficiary of his brother’s government. Meanwhile, many people who fiercely fought to remove Obote are languishing in poverty. Others, like Kifulugunyu, died as paupers.

Some may argue that those fighters were not educated. However, everyone knows that Museveni appointed Salim Saleh as an army commander when he was only an S.2 graduate. He only returned to school recently. Even then, he failed to obtain two principal passes, passing only Swahili and failing the rest.

That aside, Bobi Wine is not recruiting young children like Museveni did. Kyagulanyi is only calling on adults aged 18 and above. Kyagulanyi does not enlist children as fighters like Museveni, focusing only on rallying mature individuals. Yes, even those aged 18 and above are people’s children. I am someone’s son even in my 30s but I am old enough to distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, my decision cannot be blamed on anyone.

After all, we only want free and fair elections. Anything beyond that is an insult to our intelligence.
